Culture & Festivals

Gujarati is the official language of the state. The Gir Forest National Park in Gujarat is home to the only wild population of the Asiatic lion in the world. Gujarat has always been a major centre for the Jains and some of its most interesting locations are the Jain Temple centres at Palitana and Girnar Hills. Besides the Jain temples, the state's major attractions include the only habitat of the Asiatic Lions in India (Gir Forests), a desert ride at the Wild Ass Sanctuary and the beautiful Indo- Saracenic Architecture of Ahmedabad. The colourful tribal villages of Kutch make a visit unforgettable.

Food

Gujarati food is primarily vegetarian. Few famous Gujrati dishes are thepala, chhash, dhokla, Keri no Ras (fresh mango pulp), rotla, Rajgira ni puri etc. The traditional Gujarati Thali is one of the best ways to know the Gujarati Cuisine. Saurashtra's typical seasonings - mustard seed, turmeric, pounded red chillies, cumin and coriander - which flavour Gujarat's distinctive vegetarian cuisine.

- Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park: It is located in Panchmahal district in Gujarat.
- Western Ghats: It is also known as Western Mountain range. It is spread over the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
- Rani-ki-Vav: It is located in Patan in Gujarat on the banks of the Saraswati River.
- Historic City of Ahmadabad: It is located in Ahmedabad district of Gujrat.
- Dholavira: It is one of the five largest Harappan sites. It is located at Khadirbet in Bhachau Taluka of Kutch District of Gujarat.
